The
members of the effective Internet discussion group “Turkeyhightech” came
together in the real world this time, not in the Internet platform.
The
members of the Internet discussion group “Turkeyhightech” came together
on March 14 at Ericsson’s “Crea-World” center to take the first step of
their future together.
The
group which was created by Faruk Karaman and Melih Bulu was also
accompanied by such groups as “Finance Group (Finans Grubu)” and
“inet-Turkey” on their first meeting. On his inauguration speech Faruk
Karaman stated his speech by focusing on how Turkey was not able to
fulfill its potential and continued as following: “As we have realized
by the recent crisis in the economy, Turkey is not going to be able to
reach any point by the macro economical policies. It is necessary in
Turkey now to do micro economical analysis and has to be researched in
detail, and which industries must be focused. Our exports need new
industries now. Textile, Tourism and Construction industries cannot
carry Turkey anymore. I believe people of this country has a tremendous
duties to carry. The institutions that supposed to carry out these
duties are not able to do so. Who are these institutions; They are “TUBİTAK”,
they are “DPT”. I do not know what “TUBİTAK” does, I do not understand
them. If “TUBİTAK” is anything at all, how come high technology in
Turkey has not advanced in years, I don’t understand that either. When
the high technology in Turkey does not advance, there is no increase in
real wealth, there is economic crisis, you are not able to do the thing
that you should do, and you live a life style that you that you should
not.”
Karaman also noted that there is a great people divide and unrest
between the people of Turkey, and he said that there must be a common
denominator which will unite the people and technology should be the
one. He said, “Let’s join our forces together and let Turkey advance in
education and technology.”
Turkeyhightech who is carrying out over Yahoo groups has 850 members.
The group who
will operate at Ericsson’s “Crea-World” is also being supported by
“Internet Technologies Society of Turkey”
